Hi,

The color was Early American by Minwax. Definitely try it out with a pre-conditioner or washcoat depending on the wood species. This is a liquid stain and not a gel. I used a layer of dewaxed shellac(Zinser) to add an amber tint before the oil based poly went on(Minwax wipe on).

Hi, I am staining my douglas fir Victorian newel posts and bannisters (the ballusters are being spray laquered cream) after a year + of off and on again stripping with every dental tool known. We *love* the color on your reclaimed douglas fir table. Could you please tell me what brand and color stain you used? Thanks!
