Zoho is an online documents package similar to google docs, but offering a useful project management software. The free version allows only one project.

Here is how I use it:

1. Create milestones for the different sections of my house. Example: Kitchen to be finished by August 24.

2. Add tasks with their own to do dates to the milestone list: Cabinet doors.

3. Add sub tasks to the the task.: Stain, Hang, Install Hardware.

You can view all of your tasks on a calendar, set up the program to email you when tasks are overdue, and view your to-do's anywhere you have web access.

The pay version allows you to have multiple users. Then you can assign others tasks. If you are restoring a bungalow you are probably a control freak and won't need this feature. Just walk that lonely road.

  • So do you mean that you can't work as a team with this free version?
That's too bad... All these tools have limitations, I guess. I'm using Wrike right now, it's free version. It's a cool tool, but it lets you only create 20 tasks for free. That was all right for some time, as there were 4 of us on this project and each of us could create upto 20 tasks for free, that made it 80 all in all. But now we need more space. I thought I could find another good tool for free. But all the free stuff doesn't work for us, it lacks features. Now I guess, we will just upgrade our Wrike version. After all it's only $4 per month :) Not that bad, right?
