Our door is done!

Finally our door has been stripped, stained, and varnished.

The wayy restoration glass was added to the middle where new glass had been set.

Sadly our workers added a "blackening" that has wiped the patina off of the handle. Grrrrrr.


Overall it looks 1000 x better.

Starting to look like a cabinet

We completed tons of work on the cabinet doors yesterday. We are very happy with the progress and a little nervous about how the heck we are going to finish these by summer.

Baby Hummingbirds in the Sun

Our baby hummingbirds bask in the sun. This is the second year that a hummingbird has nested in our back yard. Last year "Sparky" set up a nest in our ficus trees on the driveway. Two birds survived and flew away, but a second batch of eggs vanished suddenly one rainy night. Sniff....

But one day recently I heard the now familiar chirp of the hummingbird and waited till I spotted the nest: Two jelly bean-sized eggs.

A few weeks later and here are the babies. They are waiting for "Sparky 2" to come feed them.

I took this photo as the sun began to set. They are slightly lizardy but feathery. Cute!
