Finally got around to staining and installing the window screens for the back porch/ soon to be breakfast room.
They are made of recycled douglas fir and finished with Early American Minwax Stain and Marine Varnish. I painted the hardware with a metalic paint.

Great blog guy, you do great work!
I’m working on some window screens of my own. I noticed on yours that the strip holding in the screen is on the outside of the frame, and was wondering which is correct as far as screen placement.
I’m putting the screen to the inside with the finished facing to the outside and the moulding strip will be inside.
Is it more accurate for the strip to be outside?
Hi Tom,
Thanks for the comment.
I have only seen them on the “front” of the frame.
It is a piece of molding that fits in a rabbet. It is not tacked on to the front per say, but integrated into it.
Nothing stopping you from putting them on the inside.
